Quadruped Robots
A quadruped robot, often called a "robot dog", walks on four legs. That lets it climb stairs, step over curbs, and cross gravel and uneven ground where wheeled robots stop. Stokes Robotics sells each one two ways, as the base robot or as a Stokes package with our secondary development added for the job you need done.
Built for the job
Stokes quadruped robot packages
Each package adds our secondary development to a proven quadruped platform: software, hardware add-ons, and setup for a specific job, such as a facility patrol, a corrections round, or an inspection route.

Unitree Go2-W
The Unitree Go2-W is a wheel-legged robot dog that rolls on pneumatic tires and steps over obstacles, sold by Stokes Robotics in Standard, Plus, Smart, Ultimate, Inspection, and ENT configurations.
Unitree B2
The Unitree B2 is an IP67 industrial robot dog for inspection and emergency response, sold by Stokes Robotics as a standard unit, with a navigation kit, or as an inspection package.
Unitree B2-W
The Unitree B2-W is an IP67 wheel-legged industrial robot dog that carries 40 kg or more on four shock-absorbing tires, sold by Stokes Robotics as a standard unit or with a navigation kit.
Unitree A2
The Unitree A2 is a mid-size robot dog with a 25 kg effective load and up to 5 hours of walking, sold by Stokes Robotics in Standard and Pro configurations for logistics, inspection, and research.
Unitree A2-W
The Unitree A2-W is a wheel-legged robot dog with a 20 to 25 kg payload and about 20 km of unloaded range, sold by Stokes Robotics in Standard and Pro configurations for logistics and inspection.
Two ways to buy
Stokes Robotics packages built on Unitree robots
The right choice depends on what your team plans to do with the robot after it arrives.
Stokes package
The same class of hardware with our secondary development added: software, hardware add-ons, and setup for a specific use. Your team gets a robot configured for the job, with operator training available.
Packages pair well with our connectivity package for field use and onsite setup and training.
Base Unitree robot
The robot as the manufacturer ships it, with its built-in functions. It works well for teams with their own developers and programs that need a platform to build on.
Programming access depends on the version. In Unitree's Go2 version comparison, the Air and Pro do not offer developer access, while the EDU is the development version. Check this before you buy for a coding or research program.
SHEP, SHEP-W, Bear, Bear-W, Aero, and Aero-W are Stokes Robotics packages built on the Unitree Go2, Go2-W, B2, B2-W, A2, and A2-W. Unitree manufactures the hardware, and Stokes Robotics is the secondary developer. Read how we build on Unitree.

Buying guide
What to consider when you buy a quadruped robot
The right quadruped depends on where it walks, what it carries, and who runs it.
| What to compare | Why it matters | Ask this |
|---|---|---|
| Legs or wheel-legs | Legs handle stairs and rough ground. Powered wheels on the feet cover flat stretches faster and keep the ability to step over obstacles. | How much of the route is pavement or smooth floor? |
| Size class | Compact robots fit indoor spaces and move easily between sites. Industrial-class robots carry more and handle harder terrain. | Will it work mostly indoors, outdoors, or both? |
| Payload and mounts | Cameras, sensors, lights, and arms add weight and need mounting points and power. | What equipment does the robot need to carry? |
| Programming access | Some versions run only the manufacturer's built-in functions. Custom software needs a development version or a Stokes package. | Will your team write its own software? |
| Runtime and batteries | Runtime changes with payload, terrain, and speed. Spare batteries keep a patrol or round going. | How long is one route, and how often does it run? See the battery and controller upgrade. |
| Connectivity | Remote viewing and control depend on a reliable link across the whole route. | Does your site have coverage where the robot will go? See the connectivity package. |
| Operators and training | Every deployment needs trained operators, and turnover means new ones. | Who will run the robot, and do you need onsite or online training? |
Performance figures on our product pages are published by the manufacturer and measured under its test conditions. Real-world results change with load, surface, temperature, and use.
Where they fit
Where quadruped robots are used
Most of our public safety and industrial packages are built on quadruped robots.
Corrections
Perimeter checks, routine rounds, and a first look inside a unit before staff enter. Non-lethal only.
Law enforcement
Eyes on a scene before an officer goes in. Non-lethal and operator-run.
Security
Patrols for sites where a walked patrol is expensive or slow, with a trained operator monitoring the robot.
Manufacturing and industrial
Inspection and data collection on routes that are repetitive, remote, or unpleasant for people.
Education
Our team has written STEM curriculum since 2005 and robotics curriculum since 2013. A compact quadruped gives students a robot to program, test, and present.
Events and entertainment
Stokes Robotics quadrupeds joined Jason Derulo's dance team at the Super Bowl LVII TikTok Tailgate Party, working with TLC Creative Technology.
A quadruped robot walks on four legs, which is why it is often called a robot dog. Four legs keep it stable on stairs, slopes, and uneven ground. The quadruped robots we sell are manufactured by Unitree.
Price depends on the model and version, whether you buy the base robot or a Stokes package, and which add-ons you choose, such as connectivity or training. Starting prices appear on each product page. A quote confirms the final configuration and cost.
Yes. Stokes packages are built with our secondary development, so your team can run the setup we build for your use or extend it with its own code. How much you can change depends on your goals. A patrol route, an inspection round, and a research project each call for different software access, tools, and training.
Some base versions cannot be programmed. In Unitree's Go2 version comparison, the Air and Pro do not offer developer access, while the EDU does. Tell us what you plan to build when you request a quote, and we will match you to the right package.
A wheel-legged quadruped, marked with a W, has powered wheels on its feet. It rolls across flat ground faster and can still step and climb like a legged robot. A legged quadruped is the better fit when most of the route is stairs or rough terrain.
Unitree and AgileX manufacture the hardware. Stokes Robotics is a distributor for both and the secondary developer and integrator for our packages.
Yes. Our public safety packages are non-lethal only and operator-run. Agencies use them to see into a space before a person enters, to run routine rounds, and to check perimeters. See our pages on law enforcement and corrections.
Yes. Every base robot in this category can be purchased on its own. A Stokes package adds our secondary development for a specific use.
