Humanoid Robots

A humanoid robot works in spaces built for people: classrooms, labs, stages, and hallways. Stokes Robotics sells each one two ways, as the base robot or as a Stokes package with our secondary development added for the job you need done.

Built for your program

Stokes Robotics humanoid robot packages

Each package adds our secondary development to a proven humanoid platform: software, hardware add-ons, and setup for a specific use, from manufacturing production to classroom programs.

Rise

Rise is the Stokes Robotics humanoid robot package for education, built on the Unitree R1 EDU, with curriculum and training options for classrooms and robotics programs.

Hank

Hank

Hank is the Stokes Robotics full-size humanoid robot package for manufacturing production, built on the Unitree H2 EDU, a 1.82 m robot with training options for your team.

GiGi

GiGi

Stokes Robotics humanoid package for manufacturing production, built on the Unitree G1 EDU, with setup and training options for your team.

As the manufacturer ships them

Base humanoid robots

Each base robot comes with its built-in functions and no Stokes development. Choose one when your team has its own developers or needs a walking humanoid for demonstrations and events.

Unitree G1

Unitree G1

The Unitree G1 is a compact humanoid robot for research, education, and demonstrations, sold by Stokes Robotics in Basic and EDU configurations with optional dexterous hands.

Unitree H2

The Unitree H2 is a full-size, 1.82 m humanoid robot with 31 degrees of freedom and a bionic head, sold by Stokes Robotics in Standard and EDU configurations.

Unitree R1

The Unitree R1 is a lightweight, 1.21 m humanoid robot for classrooms and development, sold by Stokes Robotics in Basic, EDU Standard, EDU Smart, and EDU Pro configurations.

Stokes Robotics packages built on Unitree robots

The right choice depends on what your team plans to do with the robot after it arrives.

Stokes package

The same class of hardware with our secondary development added: software, hardware add-ons, and setup for a specific use. GiGi is built on the G1 EDU, the configuration that supports custom programming.

Packages pair well with our STEMBOTICS curriculum license and onsite setup and training.

Base Unitree robot

The robot as the manufacturer ships it, with its built-in functions. It works well for demonstrations, events, and programs that need a walking humanoid on day one.

Some base configurations cannot be reprogrammed. Unitree states that the base G1 does not support secondary development, so check this before you buy for a coding program.

GiGi, Hank, and Rise are Stokes Robotics packages built on the Unitree G1 EDU, H2 EDU, and R1 EDU. Unitree manufactures the hardware, and Stokes Robotics is the secondary developer. Read how we build on Unitree.

Buying guide

What to consider when you buy a humanoid robot

Most spec sheets list the same numbers. These are the questions that decide whether a humanoid fits your program.

What to compareWhy it mattersAsk this
Programming accessSome base configurations run only the functions the manufacturer ships. Custom code needs a development-ready configuration. Will your team write its own software, or use the robot as delivered?
Size and transportCompact and full-size humanoids differ in storage, doorway clearance, and how easily they move between sites.Where will it be stored, and will it travel to events or other buildings?
Hands and manipulationDegrees of freedom and hand options decide what the robot can grip, carry, or hand off. What does it need to pick up, and how heavy is it?
Runtime and batteriesRuntime changes with load, terrain, and activity. Spare batteries extend a session.Does one battery cover a class period or an event, or do you need a spare battery?
Operating spaceHumanoids need a clear area, suitable flooring, and a trained operator close by.Where will it run, and who will be in the room?
Training and supportYour team runs the robot day to day, so training decides how much use you get from it.Do you need onsite training or online training?

Performance figures on our product pages are published by the manufacturer and measured under its test conditions. Real-world results change with load, surface, temperature, and use.

Where they fit

Where humanoid robots are used

Each market buys differently and uses the robot differently.

K-12 and CTE programs

Our team has written STEM curriculum since 2005 and robotics curriculum since 2013. A humanoid gives students a robot they can program, test, and present.

Robots for education

Higher education and research

Development-ready configurations give labs access to write their own software for locomotion, manipulation, and interaction research.

Events and entertainment

A humanoid draws a crowd on a stage or a show floor. GiGi has performed live at Art Basel in Miami.

Buying for corrections, law enforcement, or security? Most of our public safety packages are built on quadruped robots. See robots for corrections.

Questions

Humanoid robot FAQ

Answers to the questions buyers ask most.

Ask a different question
What is a humanoid robot?

A humanoid robot is built roughly to human proportions, with two legs, two arms, and a head. That shape lets it work in rooms, hallways, and stages designed for people. The humanoid robots we sell are manufactured by Unitree.

How much does a humanoid robot cost?

Price depends on the model, whether you buy the base robot or a Stokes package, and which add-ons you choose, such as curriculum or training. Starting prices appear on each product page. A quote confirms the final configuration and cost.

Can you program a humanoid robot?

Yes. Stokes packages are built on development-ready hardware, so your team can write and run its own code or start from the setup we build for your use. How much you can change depends on your goals. Classroom coding, movement research, and custom applications each call for different software access, tools, and training.

Some base robots cannot be programmed. Unitree states that the base G1 does not support secondary development, which is why GiGi is built on the G1 EDU. Tell us what you plan to build when you request a quote, and we will match you to the right package.

Can I buy a humanoid robot without a Stokes package?

Yes. Every base robot in this category can be purchased on its own. A Stokes package adds our secondary development for a specific use.

Do you manufacture these robots?

Unitree and AgileX manufacture the hardware. Stokes Robotics is a distributor for both and the secondary developer and integrator for our packages.

What is the difference between humanoid, quadruped, and mobile platform robots?

A humanoid walks on two legs and is built to interact and work in spaces made for people. A quadruped robot walks on four legs and is more stable on stairs and rough ground. A mobile platform robot is simpler to run on flat floors and suits development kits and indoor routes. The job decides which fits.

Do humanoid robots work on their own?

No. A humanoid robot runs the functions it has, or the tasks it has been programmed for, under the supervision of a trained operator. Unitree advises keeping a safe distance between its humanoid robots and people during operation.
